Curriculum
We work towards the
EYFS framework using your child interests to help them learn and develop. The
EYFS framework has recently changed but its aim is still the same. It provides
us with a clear indication of what goals a child is expected to reach and by what age but with wide overlapping age spectrums allowing for each child to
learn at their own pace. These goals are recorded in your child's individual learning journey. Your child will be given a ‘keyworker’ who is responsible for maintaining their individual
learning journals.
To complete your
child’s learning journey we have to show evidence of them completing each goal. To do
this we use observations to plan activities they will enjoy that will help them to learn and develop and then we observe and evaluate them at this activity. We
then use our observation to begin the cycle again and use our evaluation to
evidence their goal achievements. It is important to us that we keep all our
activities enjoyable and relevant to the children. To do this we will regularly
send home an ‘all about me’ sheet for you to complete about your child’s current interests
outside our setting. We will also send home occasionally a suggestion of home
based activities you could do with your child to compliment what they have been
doing in nursery.
Keyworker
Each child is
allocated a keyworker. The role of the keyworker is to greet you and your child
at the beginning of your child's session and to help your child settle in to the
nursery. They will be a constant figure in your child’s time at the nursery, building a bond with them and you. At the end of your child’s session they will
discuss with you their care sheet and particular activities of interest that
session. Your child’s keyworker is also responsible for completing your child’s
learning journey. They will be happy to discuss with you your child’s learning journey at any time. We also have ‘celebration evenings’ which you will be invited to come along to and discuss your child’s learning journey and celebrate their latest achievements.
